As I See It

Excellence in Education: As I See It

This is a structured, student reflection that is best used in the middle or end of a unit. 


  1. Determine the number of questions/sentence stems you would like students to respond to. 
  2. Using the below stems as a rough, guide create a chart or organizer for students to complete. 
  3. After students complete the chart, discuss their responses, levels of understanding with them. 
  4. Use the answers to dive deeper to improve areas of incomplete understanding and as a starting point for future lessons.

This strategy can be tailored for most any subject. It's a valuable strategy because learning is maximized when students are taught and encouraged to reflect on their learning.
